City leaders pay New Year calls to needy households

Zhanjiang Mayor Wang Zhongbing visits a low-income family and gives New Year gift money to them on behalf of the municipal government.

Leaders of Zhanjiang municipal government paid visits to needy households in the city to send Spring Festival greetings and gifts ahead of the traditional Chinese New Year.

Liu Xiaohua, Party secretary of Zhanjiang city, visited Liang Guowen, a staff of Zhanjiang Haibin Shipyard yesterday morning. Liang has suffered from serious illness for a long time, and his whole family has been supported by his scanty salary. Liu talked with Liang and asked him about his income, his illness, and the social insurance he can enjoy. Liu also encouraged Liang to fight against his illness bravely, and be confident about his future.

Zhanjiang mayor Wang Zhongbing visited a low-income household in the old town area of the city. Cai Yaoliang and his family enjoy the minimum living guarantee endowed by the municipal government, as Cai has been unable to work due to illness. His whole family has to depend on the minimum living guarantee and the slim wage his wife could get by doing part-time work to make ends meet. Wang encouraged Cai to take good care of his health and raise his child patiently.

Wang Zhongbing later visited Xiao Peng, an orphan raised up by his grandma and uncle. Wang told Xiao Peng that he should study hard and be grateful to his relatives.

Some other senior officials also visited low-income families in the city.
