The dried soybean curd in Dabu has a history of more than two hundred years and the dried soybean curd made in Sanhe and Fenglang is the most well known. As early as in 1959 the product was rated as a famous brand and a top quality food in Guangdong province. Dabu dried soybean curd is made from high quality soybeans with powdered spices of over a dozen herbal medicines. This includes cinnamon, pepper, star anise, round cardamom, syzygium aromaticum, licorice, cloves, Chinese cinnamon, amomum and fennel. It is finally dyed a light yellow in a pot of boiling water with lemon or gardenia jasminoides ellis. The dried soybean curd is characterized with a tough but elastic texture and can serve as a side dish for wine drinking.
