On July 19, the section hoisting of stator has been completed for the first generator unit (3#) of Ethiopian GD-3 Hydropower Station, in which the mechanical and electrical installation is under the responsibility of CGGC; it means the said generator unit enters body installation stage.
The stator of the generator unit is manufactured, transported, hoisted and assembled by three sections; the package size of each section is 5.6m (L)*4.1m (H)*2.35m (W), with weight of 41.6t. From July 17, it took three days for Xinjiang Electrical and Mechanical Installation Department of CGGC to complete the hoisting work of all stators, followed by assembly and welding works.
Ethiopian GD-3 Hydropower Station, over 400km away from Addis Ababa (capital of Ethiopia), is the third cascade hydropower station in the six cascade hydropower stations planned for Genale~DaWa River hydroelectric development. The Station is equipped with three vertical shaft turbine generator units; the capacity of each unit is 84,700kW.
