Gansu celebrates farming culture

The 2015 China (Qingyang) Farming Culture Festival kicked off in Qingyang city, Gansu province on Oct 13 and will run till Oct 16. This year's festival consisted of 13 events, including a fruit-picking competition, a cattle race and a local folk song gala.
The symposiums on farming cultural inheritance, rural construction and Chinese mutton sheep industry will also take place during the festival.
Qingyang city, one of the cradlelands of the early farming civilization, is dubbed as "Granary in East Gansu". The city is also home to a splendid folk culture, with five folk crafts and arts entering the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list, including Qingyang embroidered sachet, shadow puppet and suona horn (a woodwind instrument) art.
