Two-time badminton Olympic champion Lin Dan announced on Nov 11 that he will play in the China Open in Fuzhou, Fujian province.
Battling a swollen knee, Lin's status has remained questionable for the past several days. But the star shuttler assured all, attributing a good sign in recovery.
"I tried the court yesterday, and again today. I think I am good to go," he said.
"For one thing, I've signed up for the tournament after all. And I think I am getting there step by step."
Being a Fujian native, Lin said he is excited to play in front of his family in his hometown, which will give him an extra boost.
"I believe more Fujian badminton fans will show up, including my relatives. I will enjoy the tournament in Fuzhou," said Lin.
According to the schedule, Lin will play Hsu Jen Hao from Chinese Taipei on the opening day.
The tournament will kick off on Nov 12 and continue till Nov 16.
The China Open is one of BWF's Super Series tournaments and will remain in Fuzhou from 2014 to 2017.
