Fuzhou-Pingtan railway to start construction in 4th quarter

The contractor of the Fuzhou-Pingtan railway said that it expects to start construction in the fourth quarter of the year.

The railway will be an electrified double-track railway with a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour spanning a distance of 88.5 kilometers, and will include six intermediate stations..

The rail includes a 14.8-kilometer cross-sea section on the Haixia Rail-Road Bridge as well.

The project, with an investment of 25.73 billion yuan ($4.2 billion), is expected to take five years to complete.
