A signing ceremony initiating strategic cooperation between Fujian Xiamen Tianxiaxing Auto Rental Company and Taiwan E-Go Auto Rental and Travel Agency was held on Oct 24.

In accordance with the agreement, both parties shall cooperate in official exchanges, staff training, and client resource sharing.

People who want to rent cars are allowed to make reservations in Xiamen, Fujian province, and use cars in Taiwan, and vice versa.

The move accelerates the integration of Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, the "Golden Triangle" in southern Fujian. It will also provide higher service quality for cross-Straits communication.

Taiwan E-Go gives mainland customers a considerable discount in hopes to expand its mainland market. For instance, rental for a 2,000-cubic-centimeter car is 3,000 NTD ($102.67) per day in Taiwan, while the company charges 2,400 NTD ($82.13) per day for mainland customers who make reservations with Tianxiaxing and pick up in Taiwan.

The cooperative business model is on a trial run with formal operation scheduled for next year. The cooperation prospects are promising given that daily demand for auto rentals reach as high as 150,000 in Taiwan and 200,000 in Fujian.

On top of that, both sides across the Straits are working on mutual recognition of driver's licenses.

Tianxiaxing, a leading auto rental company in Fujian, has opened more than 100 branches across the province in two years.

E-Go is a time-honored industry leader in Taiwan. Both parties aim to further their cooperation in management, publicity, information systems, and staff training to achieve a win-win situation.
