Longyan documentary wins national award

The documentary Peitian Memory - which focuses on Hakka culture and the history, geography and culture of Peitian village in Longyan city - recently won first prize at the fourth National Educational Movies Competition.

Peitian Memory, an initiative of the Longyan Tourism Bureau and Liangcheng county government, and directed by the Longyan Insititute, also aims to promote Longyan as a tourist destination.

Peitian, located in Liangcheng county, has a history dating back over 800 years and is known for its dwellings of the Ming and Qing dynasties, in a typical ancient Hakka style but different from the Yongding earth buildings or tulou.
