Monthly rankings for air quality in Fujian cities will be published starting in July, and for counties in 2015, according to a recent notification from Fujian’s provincial Department of Environmental Protection.

Local governments are required to release to the public its regional air quality information, environmental impact assessment, industrial pollutant emission, and operation of pollution control.

Institutions and individuals who fail to control air pollution as requested, or fake monitoring data of air quality, will be held accountable according to law.

In addition, the public will be informed two days in advance by local governments about air quality starting in 2015, the notification said.

To consolidate the achievements of air pollution control, Fujian government will continue optimizing industrial layout by relocating and upgrading enterprises with serious pollution.

Moreover, “green credit” and “green security” policies will be strictly applied to all enterprises to curb their emissions, as their illegal environmental activities will be kept on record and deter them from obtaining bank loans.
