Abstract: Enterprises’ participation in biodiversity conservation is an important part of their social responsibility, and also the key to promoting the realization of the UN Convention on Biodiversity. According to the degree of participation involvement in biodiversity conservation, enterprises could be grouped into general enterprises and biodiversity-based enterprises. General enterprises participate in biodiversity conservation mainly through their fulfillment of social responsibilities; while biodiversity-based enterprises, such as enterprises in the industry of galenicals, mainly use the bioprospecting technology directly to gather biochemical and genetic information for practical use. Although more and more enterprises participate in biodiversity protection and sustainable application, there is still room for improvement as regards their biodiversity knowledge, awareness of protection and sustainable application, and participation degree and relevant measures. This paper notes that general enterprises need to pay attention to social responsibility fulfillment and information disclosure, and open natural capital account and make value accounting. As for biodiversity-based enterprises, they need to enhance self-capacity building. At the same time, a more regulatory policy and market environment needs to be cultivated. The government and industrial association also need to provide related support.
