Research Report, No.61, 2021 (Total 6126) 2021-3-18

Abstract: The research findings on China’s Livelihood Survey 2020 show that out of the 51,896 respondents by telephone interview, 5,054 were aged 60 and above, and 8,750 were 60 years old and above among 43,741 family members in the 11,314 surveyed households. Among the 11,314 respondents by household survey, 3,548 were aged 60 and above, accounting for 31.4 percent of the total. According to data analysis, it is found that with the progress of elderly care services in recent years, the living security of the elderly has become further ensured, the level of services for the elderly care in the whole society has been steadily improved, and the old people have shown a higher sense of satisfaction about their life. But at the same time, due to the impact of multiple factors, the elderly care services are still facing some problems to be solved. The analysis of household survey findings shows that some major issues to be solved in the current elderly care services are related to the alleviation of the old people’s worries about the expenses for elderly care, the provision of door-to-door medical services and the enrichment of care service items for seniors. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we need to roll out comprehensive measures to address the problems mentioned above.
