Research Report, No. 118, 2020 (Total 5862) 2020-5-21

Abstract: Research findings on the Survey of Chinese People’s Livelihood conducted in 2019 show that people’s satisfaction on government services has improved significantly and some long-standing problems causing people’s complaints have been effectively addressed. In some places where government services used to be below expectations have become significantly improved and some of public appeals have been solved. The number and quality of services handled by online service halls have become steadily enhanced. However, the research findings also indicate that the evaluation system of government services is not yet up to scratch and the coverage of cross-region business system needs to be further expanded. The weak points of the soft environment for government services in some places also need to be fleshed out. In terms of the focus of policies for improving government services, more efforts are needed on providing more targeted, detailed and diverse government services. The application of digital technology in grassroots government services also needs to be encouraged With regard to further reforms of delegating powers, improving regulation and providing better services, the government needs to focus on improving people’s well-being and gradually cover fields of public utilities. The reform policies need to be effectively implemented, the scope of handling cross-provincial business affairs needs to be expanded, and public utility services need to be further optimized.
