On the basis of synergy theories and the regional development experiences of the United States, Germany and other countries, this book makes an in-depth analysis of the connotation, realization mechanism and path of regional coordination, constructs the policy system framework of coordinated regional development, and puts forward the policy optimization direction, relevant policy options and suggestions to promote coordinated regional development in China. It’s an important reference for the academia and policy-makers to deepen their understanding of regional coordination and to improve the effectiveness of regional policies.

This book consists of one general report, six special topics and six case studies. The General Report is the mechanism and policy study of coordinated regional development. Topic One is the relationship between government and market in coordinated regional development. Topic Two is the international experience of coordinated regional development. Topic Three is the role of regional planning in coordinated regional development. Topic Four is on the fiscal and taxation policies to promote coordinated regional development. Topic Five is on innovative policies to promote coordinated regional development. Topic Six is about environmental policies to promote coordinated regional development. Case Study One is about the characteristics, problems and policy options of coordinated development in the Yangtze River delta region. Case Study Two is the practice and indications of multi-circle coordinated development in the Pearl River Delta. Case Study Three is about the practice and indications of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Case Study Four is on the functional orientation of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei in the process of coordinated development. Case Study Five is the experience and enlightenment of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan's coordinated development. Case Study Six is the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt Region.
