Campaigning against pornography and illegal publications

More than 510,000 stations to fight against pornography and illegal publications had been established in China by the end of this November, according to the National Office against Pornographic and Illegal Publications.

Special places like enterprises, schools and libraries and sites with dense population including stations, squares and scenic spots have been the main venues for information distribution.

Campaigns on cracking down on pornographic and illegal publications have been progressing under the grid management mode in recent years.

The mode relies on unified urban management through a digital platform where data is gathered from each grid.

Each "grid" has its own staffs in charge of supervision and publicity.

For instance, southwest China's Sichuan province is divided into over 60,000 grids with nearly 72,000 grid personnel. To date, people in more than 4,000 villages can give an alarm about pornographic and illegal publications through online TV.

Grassroots organizations in Jiangxi, Anhui, Hebei, Hubei and Hunan provinces have also volunteered in the anti- pornographic and illegal publications campaign.

More and more reports of the illegal acts have been received from the public.

According to statistics from the National Office against Pornographic and Illegal Publications offices, the number of such reports increased by 10 percent in the first three quarters this year over that of all of 2017.

The anti-pornographic and illegal publications campaign is also integrated with cultural promotions.

Shandong province sees the anti-pornographic and illegal publications campaign as important part in guaranteeing the promotion of traditional culture. Hunan and Yunnan provinces made films on the theme which have been screened in over 20,000 villages.

Stories related to anti-pornography and illegal publications are also made into performances in Anhui province and are listed in village regulations in some places in Tibet autonomous region.

Young people are main participants of the anti-pornographic and illegal publication campaign.

In some provinces like Yunnan, pamphlets on anti-pornographic and illegal publications are handed out to students, and parents also receive related information and reminders through WeChat, a popular message application.

Distributing anti-pornographic and illegal publications publicity among the people was embodied in the "Village Revitalization Strategic Plan (2018-2022)", which marked the significance of the work.
