Procuratorate strengthens public knowledge about criminal gangs

Publicization of laws and policies on cracking down on gang-related crimes was conducted by the Longquan Municipal People's Procuratorate of Zhejiang province on Nov 7.

During the promotion, banners were hung and more than 200 pamphlets were handed out to explain the significance of the campaign against gang-related crimes.

Procuratorial officers explained the problems gang-related crimies cause, as well as their features and types to raise people's awareness and preserve their safety.

According to procurators attending the event, typical gang-related crime activities include illegal detention, racketeering, forced transaction, affray and provoking escalation as well as intentional injury and vandalism.

The officers also encouraged the public to provide them with any gang-related information.

"If you have any information related to the acts mentioned, you can report to the procuratorate through hotline 12309 or visit us directly. We have special staffs to collect the facts from you," a procurator explained to an attendee of the activity.

The procuratorate will strengthen anti-gang publicity in online and offline ways, according to its officers.

Similar promotion activities will be held in villages, communities, and enterprises, as well as on campuses, and news and reports on anti-crime campaigns will be updated on the procuratorate's official WeChat account, its website, and Weibo.
