What are PRC Vice-President’s functions and powers?

PRC Vice-President assists President in his work. Main functions and powers are:

1. PRC Vice-President may exercise such President’s functions and powers as President may entrust to him.

2. In the event that PRC President’s office falls vacant, Vice-President succeed to the President’s office.

1) In the event that PRC Vice-President’s office falls vacant, NPC shall elect a new Vice-President to fill the vacancy.

2) In the event that both PRC President’s and Vice-President’s offices fall vacant, NPC shall elect a new President and a new Vice-President. Prior to such election, NPC Standing Committee Chairman shall temporarily act as PRC President.

3) When NPC Standing Committee Chairman act as PRC President, all kinds of state affairs he has dealt with have the same legal authority as President’s.
