Use psychological counseling to help restore life

Earthquakes claim life, and we feel fear, helplessness, pain and anger. But, we have to take action and soothe the pain to restore daily life as soon as possible.

What can we do for ourselves?

1. Citizens should try to keep a normal work and rest schedule, regular dietary routine, and enough sleep and rest.

2. Come to terms with your own abnormal emotions, feelings, ideas and behaviors, which are all normal after an earthquake. If need be, share them with others.

3. Pay attention to your own emotions and go see a doctor if emotions and behaviors are significantly altered after the earthquake and get worse with time.

4. Don’t blame yourself, or feel sorry or regret. Remind yourself that what happened is beyond your control, and what you can do now is take care of yourself and your relatives.

5. Don’t isolate yourself from others. Keep in touch with others for mutual encouragement and support. If need be, open up to others for help.

6. Don’t use cigarettes, wine, sleeping pill or narcotics. Go to see a doctor for help if you suffer from insomnia and depression.
