Drinking water sources are likely to be polluted after an earthquake, which might cause intestinal infectious diseases, such as typhoid fever and cholera. Patients with critical conditions might have their lives threatened, so full attention has to be paid to the safety of drinking water.
1. Citizens should drink boiled water. Even sterilized water with bleaching powders needs to be boiled.
2. Water sterilization method: Put a peanut-sized alum into 25 kilograms of water and stir the water for one to two minutes, then leave it still for 40 to 60 minutes. After the water clears up, move the clean water into another container, and get rid of the sediments. Then put a half slice of refined bleaching pill into the clean water, stir it and leave it to precipitate for 30 minutes before use.
3. Domestic water should also be sterilized for washing food, cooking and rinsing your mouth.
4. Pay attention to water source protection. Don’t defecate indiscriminately. Don’t litter, and bury dead animals deep to prevent water pollution.
