A 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit Ludian county in Southwest China's Yunnan province at 4:30 pm Sunday. An earthquake can strike suddenly with very little warning. Therefore, it is important that you know how to react during an earthquake. Here are some tips that may help save your life.

1. Be prepared

Stock up on supplies in case of an earthquake, such as a supply of canned and prepackaged dry food and bottled water. Also buy a flashlight, allergy medication supplies and blankets. These could be vital in ensuring your survival.
