After the earthquake happened, Li Bin, minister of the NHFPC, required that the local health departments should spare no effort for patient treatment and epidemic prevention based on emergency plans of the commission.

Xu Ke, vice-minister of the NHFPC, joined a working group of the State Council and came to earthquake-hit areas to lead rescue work with other authorities of the State Council. According to the website of the NHFPC, health departments in Ludian county and Qiaojia county have arranged county-level hospitals and township-level medical institutions to receive injured survivors of the earthquake.
