A delegation led by Makhtar Diop, the World Bank's vice president for Africa, visited Zhonggguancun Science Park on Jan 13.

Zeng Xiaodong, international business director of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, welcomed the delegation.

The group first visited the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center and listened to the overall development of Zhongguancun Science Park. The visitors were impressed by Zhongguancun's achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship. Six companies there, including Sinovac, Novel Supertv and OrginWater, outlined their business in Africa.

The delegation also visited the Zhongguancun Innovation Street. They talked with young entrepreneurs at 3W Cafe and Bingo Cafe — two innovative incubators for enterprises on the street.

"After 20 years of development, Zhongguancun has initially formed a business ecosystem, which is central to its core competitiveness and unique environmental factor. Innovation is the eternal soul of Zhongguancun and entrepreneurship is always the theme of Zhongguancun," Zeng explained.

Zhongguancun will develop into the most attractive center for innovation and entrepreneurship in China – and even the world – by building a vibrant innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem, Zeng added.

Makhtar praised the innovative atmosphere in Zhongguancun, which provided a good business environment for young entrepreneurs. "How I wish to realize my entrepreneurial dream together with these young men," Makhtar said.
