Changchun lures tourists with winter wonders

With the opening of Changchun Ice and Snow New World on Dec 12, it is plain to see that this year's ice and snow season in Changchun -- capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province -- is becoming more and more attractive to tourists.

The largest ice and snow park in the world covers 1.38 million square meters, with an increase of 300,000 sq m over the same period last year. The park boasts some 240,000 cubic meters of ice and 220,000 cu m of snow was utilized to build the park, an increase of 32 percent on the previous year.

In addition, the park features 142 ice and snow sculptures this year, 14 percent more than the previous year.

For this year's ice and snow season, Changchun upgraded four ski resorts, developed six ice and snow themed hot springs, built 10 themed ice and snow parks and upgraded 10 top cultural and tourism consumtion spots.

The city is offering 42 ice and snow culture and tourism products and will hold 180 winter activities this season, as well as events for tourists and enthusiasts.

Compared with previous years, this season's products have been significantly improved in terms of scale and quality, which will provide great experiences for tourists.
