Raft of ice, snow events set to hit the slopes in Changchun

The launch ceremony for the 7th National Public Ice and Snow Season – as well as the kickoff for the 19th Vasaloppet China Changchun Jingyuetan International Ski Festival – are set to take place on Dec 29 in the Jingyuetan National Scenic Area in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province.

Officials told at a recent news conference that these two will be among the most compelling in a series of events running from November 2020 to February 2021, planned by the Changchun Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

The 100-day series of activities during the zone's winter season will cover a raft of traditional Chinese festivals, as well as include seven winter sports competitions and 13 ice and snow cultural tourism activities.

The 7th National Public Ice and Snow Season features an ice and snow automobile rally, ice hockey, as well as public ice and snow activities in the Jingyuetan scenic area.

Elsewhere, this year is the 19th time that the Vasaloppet China Changchun Jingyuetan International Ski Festival is being held in Changchun and it will host six major professional events.

Currently, preparations for the extravaganza of events are all progressing well.

The national cross-country skiing team, as well as local skiers and international winter skiing enthusiasts in China are being attracted to participate. It is estimated that 500 people will participate in competitions.
