Jilin races ahead with development of transport system

Northeast China's Jilin province made major progress in the development of its transport system during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), according local media reports on Nov 12.

During the period, its passenger and freight traffic volumes grew continuously, there was a constant optimization of transportation infrastructure, as well as improvements to transport efficiency and transport network -- and a developing quality of services and logistics guarantee.

At present, there are 299,000 operating road transportation vehicles in the province. In 2019, the passenger traffic and freight volume of Jilin reached 230 million people and 370 million metric tons respectively, accounting for 70.6 percent and 76.3 percent of all transportation.

During the five-year period, 6,860 buses were added to the roads including 5,786 new energy buses, the latter accounting for 84.34 percent of the total. Some 241 bus lines were upgraded and 14 passenger bus routes were launched.

All 3A-level and above level tourist attractions in the province as well as 4A-level rural tourism business units and 23 passenger stations were upgraded, promoting the integrated development of transportation and tourism.

At the same time, in a bid to promote the development of rural logistics, Jilin has built and improved the county, township and rural logistics network, smoothing the so-called "last kilometer" of rural logistics.

An internet plus road transport administration service system has been rolled out, to realize online management of all road transport operations and administrative law enforcement. At the same time, various services such as annual online reviews of trucks have been introduced.
