Produced by the Changchun Film Studio, the film depicts late geophysicist Huang Danian devoting his life to scientific research in China, and the film officially released in China on Dec 12.

Huang was renowned for his expertise in deep earth exploration technology. He helped China advance in a number of technical fields, putting China at the forefront of deep earth exploration.

"Dr Huang Danian" was among the nine films presented at a film promotion event commemorating the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up in Beijing on Nov 29.
