The soon-to-be-constructed Siberian Tiger National Park will be an ecological protection demonstration area in China and an experiential zone for people to get close to nature. The park will become a new landmark for China, said Li Jinghao, governor of Yanbian Antonymous Region, Jilin province, on March 6, during the opening day of the National People's Congress, Jilin session.

Li introduced the current condition of Siberian tigers in China.

"Siberian tigers and Amur leopards have high demands for their habitat, which means such wild animals can only be found in those areas with rich living resources and high living quality."

"To date, 27 Siberian tigers and 42 Amur leopards have been confirmed living in the Yanbian area and the plan for building the Siberian Tiger National Park pilot program was passed by the Central Government last December," he said.

"The national park is a significant project for ecological construction and will further promote the green-ecology transformation in China."

Li also mentioned that the local government and local people will work together to make protection policies and to build high-quality basic infrastructure to construct a better living environment for these wild animals.
