High-speed rail will reach Changbai Mountain Scenic Area in 2019, according to the Jilin government.

Changbai Mountain is a significant travelling destination in Jilin province with splendid sceneries all year round. However, tourists can only reach the place by bus and local trains, which is pretty slow. People can use an airplane to visit the spot but have to again take buses when leaving the airport, which also takes a long time.

The first high-speed rail line is to be constructed in 2019 to connect Changbai Mountain Scenic Spot and other Jilin cities, which will be very convenient for people wanting to visit the area.

112.4 kilometers

The preliminary plan for the railway is to construct a new station -- Changbai Mountain Station -- one kilometer north to Baihe Train Station, which is 35 kilometers from Changbai Mountain Scenic Spot.

The new railway will start from the Changbai Mountain Station, passing Yongqing Station, and finally reaching Dunhua City.

The total length of this special railway line will be 112.4 kilometers and the construction will cost 13.37 billion yuan ($1.95 billion) in total.

The railway is planned to be finished and open in 2019, after which people can enjoy a direct high-speed train journey from Changchun, capital of Jilin, to the Changbai Mountain Scenic Spot.

High-speed Train Area

An information conference focusing on significant programs to be conducted in the Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone of Jilin Province in 2017 was held recently, during which a High-speed Train Area was announced to be built, relying on the newly constructed train station at Changbai Mountain Scenic Spot.

The area will be located near Baihe Train Station and is designed to be a small town integrated with the tourism industry and cultural creativity. The district will cover 4.5 million square meters and the local government will invest 13.5 billion yuan.

The administration of the Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone also plans to develop a logistics and storage program and an intelligent parking program to meet the demands of the surrounding area and help to relieve the parking burden at the scenic spot.
