Tigers in the Tiger Temple Updated: 2006-04-19 13:56

Tigers play in a pond at the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi
province, 120 km (74 miles) northwest of Bangkok, April 17, 2006. The temple now
has sixteen tigers which are looked after by the Buddhist monks. The monks
started caring for orphaned tigers in 1999 after local villagers gave the monks
a cub who had survived an attack and an attempt to be stuffed. The temple has
become an unsanctioned tourist attraction. Picture taken April 17, 2006.
