Lying on a soft couch, one hand loosely cupping a glass of red wine as shadows dance from a nearby candle. This is the perfect ambience for my song, said Taiwan actress and singer Ruby Lin.

The song - Love Nonstop - is the theme tune for Lin's up-coming movie You Deserve to Be Single, due to be screened next month.

In a movie dealing with a single girl's exploration of happiness, Lin takes the lead role as a psychologist, cast alongside Taiwan actor Mike He.

Lin stepped off the set to share her feelings with METRO about her new film and plans for an exciting love life.

Q: Why did you volunteer to sing the theme song?

A: Although I am not as good as a professional singer, I felt sure I could interpret the song well since I know the story. When I sing it, the movie scenes appear in my mind and I get completely wrapped up in it.

Singing is another form of expression like acting, in this sense to convey emotion through my voice.

Q: Please describe the song?

A: It is a little sad, like the emotion of the actor at that point in the movie. It feels like jazz. I planned on drinking a little red wine before recording it, but changed my mind because I was afraid it would knock me out of tune.

Q: What is your favorite musical genre?

A: Jazz and blues. Sad Korean songs are my favorite because they are compelling and touching.

They present me with a strong image in my mind, even though I don't understand the lyrics.

Q: Who is your favorite singer?

A: Faye Wong. I have her complete collection. I sing her song Red Bean whenever I go to KTV. I also like songs by Khalil Fong.

Q: In the movie, you take the role of a lonely psychologist. Are you similar to your character at all?

A: Yes, we are both far too rational towards love. In the movie, the psychologist is an expert in love. However, after treating endless patients suffering from emotional pain, she becomes too sensible and detached.

Q: What advice do you have for those seeking love?

A: If ignorance is bliss, it's folly to be wise. Following this idea, remember that not everything needs to make sense or be planned.

I believe love is necessary for women because it makes them more beautiful.

Q: The movie has been described as a "Bible for romantic girls". Did you learn anything from it?

Yes, I took hold of some skills and plan to use them when I discover the one I deserve. I hope he will be tall and gorgeous, and he is allowed to be younger than me.
