Pablo Escobar 'burnt $1m to keep warm'

Pablo Escobar burnt $2m (£1m) in cash to stay warm and cook food while on the run from the authorities, it has been claimed.

The cocaine baron's son Sebastian Marroquin told Don Juan that Escobar had set fire to the currency after realising that his daughter Manuela was suffering from hypothermia, The Daily Telegraph reports.

He also said that Escobar moved his family every 48 hours between 15 hideaways to prevent torturers from discovering their location.

Marroquin relocated to Argentina with his family after Escobar was shot dead in December 1993 fleeing the police.
