Pincers in pop

Historical pop art meets today's digital culture with an effervescent bang in the work of mixed media British artist Philip Colbert who has been dubbed by some as the godson of Andy Warhol. He works in an unusually varied range of materials, including branded footwear, video and sculpture. The signature motif in his works is his alter ego figure, a suit-wearing cartoon lobster.

Colbert's large-scale canvas paintings and sculptures feature layers of colorful imagery including themes found in old masters' paintings and images from everyday mass culture. His first solo show in Hong Kong features a new series of "Lobster Land" paintings and sculptures on show for the first time.
