On 27 April 1992, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Qian Qichen sent a message to Sloveninian Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Dimitrij Rupel, declaring the Chinese Government's recognition of the Republic of Slovenia. On 12 May, Representative of the Chinese Government and Assistant Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Dai Bingguo and Representative of the Slovenian Government and Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Dimitrij Rupel signed The Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Slovenia in Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia. On 18 May, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 754, recommending the UN General Assembly accept Slovenia as a member state of the UN, and on 22 May, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution, accepting Slovenia's membership, and China voted for both resolutions. On 11 August, Chinese Chargé d' Affaires ad interim to Slovenia Mr. Gong Liefu presented the Letter of Recommendation to Slovenian Deputy Foreign Minister Zoran Thaler.

On 15 February 1993, Slovenian Chargé d' Affaires ad interim to China Samuel Zbogar presented the Letter of Recommendation to Chinese Vice Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Dai Bingguo. On 28 April, the first Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia H.E. Mr. Lu Peixin presented the Letter of Credence to Slovenian President H.E. Dr. Milan Kucan. From 6 to 19 June, State Secretary of Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ingac Golob visited China. From 12 to 14 September, Vice Premier and Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Qian Qichen visited Slovenia. The two sides signed the Agreement Between the Government of China and the Government of Slovenia Concerning the Encouragement and Reciprocal Protection of Investments, Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation Between the Government of China and the Government of Slovenia, Agreement on Cooperation in Education, Culture and Protocol on Consultation Between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia. On 15 October, the first Slovenian Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Ivan Senicar presented the Letter of Credence to Chinese President H.E. Mr. Jiang Zemin.

From 27 to 31 May 1994, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NPC Mr. Zhou Jue visited Slovenia. From 31 May to 5 June, Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Lojze Peterle paid a visit to China. The two sides signed the Agreement between the Government of China and Government of Slovenia on Mutual Exemption of Visas for Diplomatic and service Passports and the Agreement on Cooperation between Xinhua News Agency and Slovenia News Agency.

From 13 to 17 February 1995, Slovenian Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Janez Drnovsek paid a visit to China. The two sides signed the Agreement between the Government of China and the Government of Slovenia for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income. The Slovenian Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Rado Bohinc accompanied the Prime Minister during his visit.

From 16 to 18 July 1996, the State Secretary of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ignac Golob came to China for routine consultations between foreign ministries of the two countries. From 14 to 19 October, Slovenian President H. E. Mr. Milan Kucan paid a state visit to China. The two sides signed the Agreement of Cooperation in the fields of Health and Medicine between the Government of China and the Government of Slovenia and the Programme of Cooperation in the Fields of Health and Medicine from 1996-1998 Between the Government of China and the Government of Slovenia. The Slovenian Minister of Health Dr. Bozidar Voljc accompanied the President during his visit

On 10 September 1997, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia H.E. Mr. Wu Junfeng presented the Letter of Credence to Slovenian President H.E. Mr. Milan Kucan. From 7 to 9 October 1997, Vice Foreign Minister H.E. Mr.Zhang Deguang went to Slovenia for routine consultations between foreign ministries of the two countries.

From 11 to 16 October 1998, State Secretary of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ernest Petric visited China for routine consultations between the two foreign ministries. On 8 December 1998, the Slovenian Red Cross provided the Chinese Red Cross with humanitarian medical assistance worth of 50,000 US dollars for the purpose of preventing epidemics and diseases in the flooded areas. On 16 December, the newly appointed Slovenian Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Tit Turnsek presented the Letter of Credence to President H.E. Mr. Jiang Zemin.

From 10 to 14 November 1999, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dr. Boris Frlec paid a visit to China. From 11 to 17 December 1999, the State Secretary of the Slovenian Ministry of Culture Mr. Silvester Gaberscek paid a visit to China.

From 13 to 15 June 2000, H.E. Mr. Li Peng, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the NPC paid a visit to Slovenia.On 16 August 2000, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia H.E. Mr. Yang Hexiong presented the Letter fo Credence to President H.E. Mr. Milan Kucan. On 29 August 2000, the newly appointed Slovenian Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Vladimir Gasparic presented the Letter of Credence to President H.E. Mr. Jiang Zemin. From 28 to 29 August, Assistant Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Liu Guchang visited Slovenia for routine consultations between the two foreign ministries.

From 21 to 24 February 2001, State Councilor H.E. Mrs. Wu Yi visited Slovenia.From 3 to 12 June, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament H.E. Mr. Jelko Kacin paid a visit to China. From 20 to 24 October 2001, Slovenian Minister of the Economy Dr. Tea Petrin visited China and attended the celebrations marking the 20 th anniversary of the twinning between Chengdu and Ljubljana.. From 22 to 27 october, Slovenian Minister of Health Dr. Dusan Keber came to China to attedn the Pharmaceutical and Chemical D.D.

From 23 February to 1 March 2002, Slovenian Minister of Science Dr. Lucija Cok visited China. On 14 May 2002, the new Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia H.E. Mr. Xu Jian presented the Letter of Credence to Slovenian President H.E. Mr. Milan Kucan. From 19 to 22 May, President of Chinese Political Consultative Conference H.E. Mr. Li Ruihuan visited Slovenia.From 28 May to 1 June, Slovenian Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Dimitrij Rupel visited China. From 9 June to 12, the member of Central Political Bureau of CPC, the Party Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee of CPC H.E. Mr. Huang Ju visited Slovenia.

In the year of 2003, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Zdenka Cerar visited China from 21 to 28 September. Secretary-general of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Mr. Zhu Jinchang visited Slovenia from 23 to 26 October. Upon invitation from Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, the former President of Slovenia H.E. Dr. Milan Kučan visited China. From 3 to 7 December, the Prime Minister of Slovenia H. E. Mr. Anton Rop visited China. From 5 to 9 December, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Mr. Su Guang visited Slovenia. From 16 to 21 December, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of China Mr. Zhu Zhixin visited Slovenia.

In the year of 2004, the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia H. E. Mr. Wang Fuyuan presented the Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Slovenia H.E. Dr. Janez Drnovšek on 2 February. Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Comunist Pary of China Mr. Cai Wu visited Slovenia from 15 to 18 February. The Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee of CPC Mr. Fan Deguan visited Slovenia from 15 to 17 June. Chief Director of the China Central Television Mr. Zhao Huayong visited Slovenia from 18 to 22 August. Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China Mr. Deng Nan visited Slovenia from 10 to 14 September. Party Secretary Chengdu Municipal Party Committee of CPC Mr. Li Chuncheng visited Slovenia from 23 to 26 September. Deputy Director-General of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China Mr. Zhao Shi visited Slovenia from 23 to 25 November. President of the National Council of Slovenia H.E. Janez Sušnik visited China from 30 November to 4 December.

In the year of 2005, President of the Slovene National Party Mr. Zmago Jelinčič visited China from 2 to 8 March. Vice Minister of Foreign Ministry of China Mr. Zhang Yesui Visited Slovenia for routine consultations between foreign ministries of the two countries from 13 to 15 March. Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Mr. Chen Kuiyuan visited Slovenia from 11 to 14 April. The newly-appointed Slovenian Ambassador to China H.E. Marjan Cencen presented the Letters of Credence to the President of China H.E. Hu Jintao on 27 July. Mayor of Ljubljana Mrs. Danica Simšič visited China from 11 to 16 September. Director of STA Mr. Aleks Štakul visited China from 1 to 6 November.

In the year of 2006, President of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs Mr. Lu Qiutian visited Slovenia from 24 to 25 February. A delegation from the Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia visited China from 18 to 26 April. President of Slovenia H.E. Dr. Janez Drnovšek attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2006 in China and visited the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China from 20 to 24 April. A Chinese film delegation visited Slovenia form 30 May to 5 June. A delegation from Chinese media visited Slovenia from 15 to 20 June. A delegation from Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference visited Slovenia from 18 to 21 June. A delegation from Zhejiang Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference visited Slovenia from 16 to 18 July. A delegation from Chengdu visited Slovenia for the Celebration of the 25 Anniversary of the Establishment of Friendship Cities between Chengdu and Ljubljana from 28 August to 2 September. State Councilor of China H.E. Tang Jiaxuan visited Slovenia from 30 August to 1 September, and the two countries signed an Agreement on Economic and Trade Cooperation. Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of Slovenia Mr. Jožef Jerovšek visited China from 12 to 16 November. A delegation from Henan Provincial People's Congress visited Slovenia from 17 to 19 December.

In the year of 2007, Chairman of NPC Foreign Affairs Committee Mr. Jiang Enzhu visited Slovenia from 8 to 12 April. The Newly-appointed Ambassador of China to Slovenia H.E. Mr. Zhi Zhaolin presented the Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Slovenia H.E. Dr. Janez Drnovšek on 19 April. Chairman of the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China Mr. Chamba Phuntsok visited Slovenia from 13 to 17 June. Assistant Foreign Minister of China Mr. Kong Quan visited Slovenia for routine consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries from 2 to 4 September.
