Ambassador: Australia open to Chinese investment

In recent times eyebrows had been raised regarding the level of investment by Chinese firms into Australia.

People to people dialogue – the bond that ties us

At present Australia's Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is the first head of a western government to be proficient in Mandarin and back in 1986 he and Ambassador Raby served here in Beijing as Foreign attaches.

All this talk about 'China threat' is quite simplistic and unreasonable. It's not logical.

I think probably this year China will be our biggest trading partner by a huge margin.

Our economy is ever more deeply integrated into China's economy. Our economic future is absolutely and intimately bound up with the future of China and China's well-being. There's no question about that.

-- Australian Ambassador to China Geoff Raby
