Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is situated in the west of south China, facing North Bay in the south, with Nanning as its provincial seat. Guangxi is the only coastal province in west China and positioned in the frontlines and as a hub of China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone. The opportunities of West Development, construction of China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone and the economic cooperation of Pan-Pearl River all converge in the region, enabling the economic and social development of Guangxi to embark on “the fast track” and also making Guangxi a spectacular “new star” in west China.

In 2010, Guangxi’s GDP totaled 950.239 billion yuan.

广西壮族自治区位于华南地区西部，南濒北部湾，首府南宁。是中国西部唯一沿海的省份，又处于中国—东盟自由贸易区的前沿和枢纽位置，西部大开发、中国—东盟自由贸易区建设、泛珠三角经济区合作等一系列机遇正在此叠加，使广西经济、社会发展日渐步入“快车道”，也使广西日渐成为中国西部引人注目的一颗“新星”。

The electric power, automobile, machinery, nonferrous metals, sugar-making and foodstuffs of Guangxi are the major sectors contributing to the industry growth of the autonomous region. In the 10th five year plan period, the region has increased highway mileage by 8,412 kilometers, completed the road corridor outbound to the sea and across the southwest and made progress on the construction of outbound corridors to Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan and Guangdong, as well as to Vietnam. Thirteen new port berths were constructed and the handling capability was increased by 8.64 million tons in the 10th five year plan period. The inland river shipping has met the objective of the 1000-tonnage-class waterway running through from Nanning to Guangzhou.

广西电力，汽车，机械，有色金属，制糖，食品等成为自治区工业增长的主要部门。“十五”期间，全区新增公路里程8412公里，实现了西南出海公路大通道广西境内全线贯通，连接云南、贵州、湖南、广东以及通往越南的出省出边公路通道建设取得积极进展。“十五”期间新建沿海港口泊位13个，新增吞吐能力864万。内河航运实现了南宁至广州千吨级航道全线贯通的目标。
