Beijing, briefly referred to as Jing, is the capital city of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It is one of the four municipalities of the PRC, which are at the same administrative level with the other 33 provinces in China. A high-tech and neo-economic centre, Beijing has formed a high-tech industrial development structure which is dominated by electronic information, optical-mechanical-electrical integration, bio-engineering, neo-pharmaceuticals, and other neo-technology oriented materials. Beijing is the largest consumer market and one of the largest import and export hubs of the country.

In 2007, Beijing's GDP totaled 1.37779 tillion yuan.
