Chinese minorities in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippine
bchung  Updated: 2004-04-21 09:31

Chinese minorities in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippine are hardly ever treated fairly.

They are asked to pay for very high taxes, and these taxes will be used for the locals, while the Chinese minorities there doesn't have the right to vote. Then when it comes to riots, Chinese are always targeted, by these locals, totally ignoring that the Chinese are paying 5 times more tax then they are (by percentage).

Many of these Chinese in those places sold themselves to be slaves because it was too poor at home, before and during WWII. They started off from nothing, and the locals just get so jealous of the success of these Chinese. They say the Chinese steal their money, while totally ignoring that it is the Chinese tax money that is keeping half of their nation running. Some advice to the filipinos is that they should think of working their holidays as well, if they want to be successful.

Maybe they should also consider coming to work the day after they receive their pay check (not all but enough to piss any boss out) Malaysia, where the 1/3 Chinese pay most of their taxes in that nation. Indonesia (exception to Bali) have to be the worst for the Chinese. NO soldiers or police officers ever was sent to the protect the Chinese neighbourhoods where the stealing and raping and butchering of Chinese is everywhere. There were so many murders and rape against the Chinese, and how many of these criminals were caught? maybe they are caught, but I haven't heard any news about it.

I do not want China to maintain a good relations with exception to Malaysia, since it seems Malaysia is the only one that is not planting bomb at Chinese property, and at least they are doing good with the Chinese tax money. While in Indonesia and Philippine, the Chinese work harder, earn more, pay more taxes, the govt doesn't used it on the nation, but put it in their wallet, then the people are pissed at the govt, then the locals will blame the Chinese.
