Better China
luf2004  Updated: 2004-02-02 16:28

You probably need to define what is China culture in the first place, and I am sure you may find hundreds different definitions.

Never been to TW so I only know a little bit TW from TV and my friends. The first impression you got, it could be the traditional way of life. When I first time went to America and Canada, I found that Chinatowns look more like traditional China than real China.

If you have a travel in the small towns in Jiang Su, Zhe Jiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Gui Zhou, Yunnan....... you will find many traditional things, probably much more traditional than TW.

It is true that some traditional stuff were destroyed in culture revolution, and wars, but the culture is not that easy to be destoyed.

Once I had worried that China culture may disappear while the country is industrialized, but the fact told me that China culture and traditional value is becoming more and more important in recent 10 years. It showed people have more and more confidence on traditional culture. However, the culture is changing, some traditional ways of life may disappear.
