Rule lets schools off the hook in accidents
(Jinling Evening News)
Updated: 2005-11-28 14:30

Middle school students in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, are not being permitted to go home without parents accompanying them in a new rule that lets schools off the hook in case of accidents.

To guarantee the safety of the students, a middle school in Nanjing requires that every parent should come to the school to pick up their children, or sign a safety contract so that the school's hands can be wiped clean of the responsibility for accidents.

Parents have complained about this requirement.
