102 overseas cities to attend 2005 Asia-Pacific Mayors' Summit
A total of 102 overseas cities have signed up to attend the coming 2005 Asia-Pacific Mayors' Summit (APC 2005), which is slated for October 11-14 in Chongqing Municipality, southwest China. The 102 overseas cities are of 39 countries and regions, including 41 cities from 21 Asian countries, 42 cities from six American and Oceanian countries, six cities of three African countries, and 13 cities from nine European countries. There are 17 capital cities attending the coming summit. China's Taiwan Province, and the Hong Hong and Macao special administrative regions will also attend the impending summit, said Chongqing mayor Huang Zhendong. Approximately 500 reporters from 115 media groups have signed up to cover APCS 2005. Mayors and experts will have an exchange of views on coordinated development between homo sapiens, nature and cities during the coming summit, the fifth one of Asia-Pacific cities. The summit will also serve as a platform for Asia-Pacific cities to conduct exchanges and hold dialogue and promote friendship, bilateral and multi-lateral exchanges in the economic, trade and cultural fields. The first Asia-Pacific Mayors Summit was held in Australia in 1996. |
