Renault's new low-cost car, called 'Logan', will be built in a new Chinese plant as well as in 5 other countries worldwide, Chief Executive Louis Schweitzer said.

Production of the car is expected to reach 700,000 units annually by 2010 and a major part of this will be in China, Schweitzer said, without specifying further.

Schweitzer said the announcement that production will take place in China is part of the company's new strategy for the region, which it will unveil in full later this summer.
