Fiji's Health Ministry is following on leads that two HIV positive people are
allegedly knowingly spreading the disease, according to Wednesday's reports from
Suva, capital of Fiji.
Fiji's Minister for Health Solomon Naivalu told Radio Fiji News that "we
understand there are two people, one male and one female who are positive and
who maybe doing this willful transmission."
He said the amendment of Fiji's Public Health legislation, which will include
treating HIV/AIDS as a communicable disease, will make their work easier as they
can report such cases to police without holding back.
The latest statistics shows that 200 Fijians have tested positive for the
disease but the number is said to be far less the exact figures.
World AIDS Day will be commemorated on Thursday, when a series of sessions
for publicity will be held.
