SHENYANG: Shenyang Yuanda Enterprises Group, one of China's leading structural curtain wall manufacturers, won its biggest ever international project bid recently in Russia.

"This project means that Yuanda officially gets into the international high-end market," said Wang Yijun, general manager of Yuanda's overseas division.

The US$50 million project, Russian new Federation Building, is one of the tallest buildings in Russia and, even in Europe. Yuanda is responsible for fixing the outside curtain wall project.

Structural curtain walls are used as decoration for buildings made from glass, aluminium and stone.

Russia's high-end curtain wall market has been always been dominated by first-class international companies from Germany and Italy.

Concerned about the complicated technology involved, many international companies took part in the bid competition.

"Our win-out means that our competitive edge has been acknowledged, and it helps us get more involved in global competition," Wang told China Daily.

Wang added that they don't need to worry about the rest of the projects in Russia because this one would be their best showcase.

He added that Yuanda is also expanding its operations in Japan and the United States.

The move comes at a time when Yuanda's products are dominating the domestic market. Statistics from the company show its output value reached 3.3 billion yuan (US$399 million) last year.
