World title holders of mixed doubles Wang Liqin and Guo Yue nipped a 4-0 win over Ko Lai Chak and Zhang Rui from Hong Kong, China to be crowned at the Asian table tennis championships here on Thursday.

It's a seventh Asian title in mixed doubles in a row for China and 11th in as many as 17 editions of the biennial tournaments.

In an actually all-Chinese matter final, Wang, the world number one and reigning world champion for men's singles, and Guo, ranked fifth in the world women's table tennis, performed wonderful teamwork, winning 11-7, 11-4, 11-6, 11-6.

Zhang Rui, the women's doubles bronze medalist in the Shanghai worlds last May, played the ball under the net after receiving serve from the top-seeded Chinese duo in the fourth and last sets to hand over the title to her opponents.

Before the mixed final, her mixed doubles partner Ko just finished a trilling seven-set defeat to Oh Sang Eun of South Korea, losing 11-3, 10-12, 5-11, 11-7, 11-8, 5-11, 11-7 to miss a quarter-final showdown against China's Hao Shuai.

Wang and Guo, who just paired up for five months, have set up a fluent privity with strong self-confidence and trust in each other. Though not having been toned perfectly after three months without training together due to the domestic league, Wang and Guo went on smoothly at the Asian championships, losing just one set to Malaysia's Kho Mao Sheng and Beh Lee Fong en route to Thursday's final.
