Italy's erotic best-selling novel based on the virtually-autobiographical diary of a young Sicilian woman, is to be brought to the silver screen, actor Claudio Amendola announced.

Amendola, who will produce the movie based on the novel "One Hundred Strokes of the Brush before Bed", said shooting would begin February 28 with a 18-year-old Spanish actress in the starring role.

"We met nearly 200 young Italian women but none was suitable for the part. But we were immediately enthralled by the young Spanish actress," he told a press conference here.

The novel was written by Melissa Panarello, who was 17 when the book was published in 2003. It subsequently made it to the top of Italy's bestseller list.

With great detail and surprising candor, it chronicles Melissa's first-time sexual experiences with older men and also women, beginning at the age of 14, in search of true love.

The film will be produced by Bess Movie, the production company created by Amendola and his wife Francesca Neri.
