Domestic travel costs to rise
(Shenzhen Daily)
Updated: 2004-12-29 12:48

Tour prices will rise in Guangzhou from the New Year's Day and last until the Spring Festival in February.

According to last Friday's New Express, the domestic tour prices will rise by five to 30 percent.

The main reasons for the increases are rising of transport costs between the two holidays and the arrival of the regular winter travel season.

Costs of many scenic spots, hotels, and transport expenses have all increased, particularly in Beijing and the southwest cities of China..

Tours to Yunnan, Sichuan, Beijing and Guizhou will cost 100 to 300 yuan more after New Year's Day. Those routes will cost even more during the Spring Festival.

Snowfalls in northern China have seen skiing, ice sculpture and ice lanterns back on the holiday program attracting many southern tourists.
