Guangdong's GDP exceeded 1.27 trillion yuan (US$150 billion) in the first 10 month of this year and is estimated to hit 2 trillion yuan in 2006.

Governor Huang Huahua released the figures Tuesday.

The province maintained sound and fast development in the past several months, Huang said.

If calculated at the present pace, this year's GDP is expected to hit 1.6 trillion yuan, fulfilling the target of the Tenth Five-Year Plan (2001-2005), one year ahead of schedule, and provincial GDP will reach 2 trillion Yuan in 2006.

Guangdong set a target to double the per capita GDP in 2000 to US$3,450 in 2010 and to quadruple the figure by 2020 to US$7,000.
