China will allow foreign newspapers to be printed in the Chinese mainland and published in some places for the first time.

 

The deputy director of the State Administration of Press and Publications, Liu Binjie, says foreign newspapers will be authorized to be printed in the mainland through certain procedures,

He says many famous foreign newspapers are interested in printing newspapers in China, but none have applied to the government.

At present, these foreign newspapers are always printed in Hong Kong and other places outside the Chinese mainland, before being distributed in selected mainland areas with more foreigners.
