Japanese gets 12 years for killing Chinese

A 57-year-old Japanese tourist has been sentenced to 12 years in prison over the death of a Chinese hotel worker in August, the Beijing Times reported Saturday.

The newspaper said Hisato Tashiro was convicted of knocking the employee off the roof of a hotel in Lijiang, a popular tourist area in southwestern China in August.

The newspaper said Tashiro, who had reportedly been drinking before the incident, was convicted of intentionally harming the hotel employee.
