FM: China, US to further constructive cooperation

China is ready to make joint efforts with the United States to further promote bilateral constructive cooperation so as to benefit the peoples of the two countries and the world, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Thursday.

Zhang made the remark when asked to comment on the future Sino- US relations after George W. Bush was reelected the US president on Wednesday.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Vice President Zeng Qinghong sent congratulatory message to US President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney respectively on their re-election, Zhang said.

In recent four years, China and the United States have seen progress in bilateral constructive cooperation with joint efforts, said Zhang, adding that China is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the United States, address each other's concerns and further push forward bilateral constructive cooperation so as to benefit the people of the two countries and rest of the world.
