Vince Carter will be back in federal court Monday to testify in a lawsuit filed by a former agent, though the Raptors star hopes to play in Toronto's season-opener Wednesday.

"Hopefully, I do what I have to do and I don't have to stay," Carter said Saturday.

Carter will miss practice Monday to attend the trial in Columbia, S.C. He missed two preseason games last week, but returned to Toronto for a game Friday.

William "Tank" Black wants Carter to pay him $9 million in commissions for endorsement deals the former agent said he landed for Carter, as well as $5 million in damages, according to the suit filed last year.

Carter has countersued, demanding Black pay him the $15.9 million Carter lost when Puma sued him over a failed shoe deal and a $3 million penalty for breaking the contract.

Black was sent to prison in 2002 for bilking about a dozen NFL players out of millions. He was Carter's agent from June 1999 to March 2000. Carter cut ties with Black shortly after the agent was charged. Black's clients included Fred Taylor, Ike Hilliard and Duce Staley.
